Apparel Designer

To support the company’s continued growth in the apparel and accessories category, we are looking for a seasoned designer to design and develop products for key retail customers. As a designer on ILNA’s team, you will work collaboratively across sales, product development, and merchandising to deliver distinctive product concepts and designs that align with assigned brand and business strategies to drive growth.

What does an average day look like? You will:

• be involved with driving product concepts through adoption by our retail customers, which includes presentations at customer meetings to deliver seasonal and color trends, and design ideas

• serve as the main point of contact for design and design-related problem-solving with customers and internal colleagues; offer ideas/recommendations

• ensure team adherence to the retail calendar, lead times, and tight deadlines responsible for generating initial tech packs in PLM

• design amazing products!

About You

As a strategic thinker, you can translate customer brand and sales strategy into brand-right product design concepts. You’re a self-starter and can work independently or in a collaborative mode. Confidentiality and integrity are words that you live and work by. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail enable you to multitask and manage change with ease. You are team-oriented and thrive on collaborating and sharing projects, knowledge, and experience. You love to work in groups of people who are passionate about a common goal.

We’d like to see:

• Exceptional track record designing socks and apparel for major brands and retailers

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic, Fashion or Textile Design preferred

• A minimum of 3 – 5 years of work experience in designing

• Experience with private label and brands

• Ability to bring new design ideas to the table

• Ability to execute design ideas

• Ability to relate to customers at buying, sourcing, and PD levels

• Ability to present product concepts in a clear, confident and engaging manner, while supporting design proposals with strategic rational

• Ability to take feedback well and collaborate to fine-tune and meet customer needs

• Knowledge of how to quickly work through challenges and bring ideas/recommendations for solutions when direction is needed

• Skills in researching color and trend, consumer lifestyle, constructions and fabrications, and developing stories and strategies that translate to salable products

• Demonstrated process management skills, executing to budget and tight timelines, ability to oversee a large variety of projects from start to finish

• Strong understanding of cost drivers in manufacturing and how to design to achieve specific cost targets

• Strong presentation skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator is an absolute must

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Work, Excel, and Outlook)
